Facilities

  • The Maison

The house was built by a wine family of wealth. From the huge carved front door to the marble fireplaces the house shouts "quality”. Every room is on a grand scale with intricate original tiled floors in every room. The house was owned by the same wine-making family and their dedicated housekeeper  for 150 years since being built in 1860. When we bought it a total renovation was required as no work had been done to the house for 50 years! But we were careful to keep every original feature.

This is the only room with a large double bed rather than twin beds that can be joined together. Not the largest bedroom in the house, but with a lovely view over the pool and a large en suite bathroom and shower.

  • The Three Other First Floor Bedrooms

There are three other double size first floor bedrooms. Each of these has high ceilings, lots of light, and have been luxuriously furnished with French furniture echoing the 1860s period of the house. One of the bedrooms has an ensuite shower and WC, the other two share a bathroom across the corridor.

  • The Two Second Floor Bedrooms

Set in the original roof of the house which was a wine storage area, these are modern, but with the original wooden beams showing. The larger of the two has a ceiling that is at least 20 foot high at the peak and runs the entire width of the house. It has its own sitting area with a large sofa and TV.

  • Bathrooms

One of the Five, similarly appointed bathrooms. Two are en suite and three are separate. There is one more loo downstairs near the pool.

  • The Pool, Garden and Patio

The garden has a mixture of sun and shade all day long. Garden furniture for full out outdoor dining and a Barb-b-q are provided. The garden is surrounded by lavender and thyme, with the atmospheric old barn at the back The barn is part of the property and not in use. The garden is completely secluded, and not overlooked. Sun loungers are arranged around a 10 x 4metre pool. The room to build a large pool in our own garden was a key attraction of the house, and highly unusual in a village house.
