Going Gold
Since completing the Easterleigh Cottage for rental we have had some sixteen different groups staying there, from families to friend, even a Church group. All seem to have enjoyed themselves judging by the reviews. But we are perfectionists. Even a Four Star Rating from the English Tourist Board wasn’t good enough for us, we wanted Four Star Gold! Six months after Easterleigh Cottage after its first rental, Easterleigh has now achieved that Gold rating as a true symbol of excellence. This goes alongside our Four Star Luxury Plus Rating by the Klosters Tourist Board for our chalet. Unfortunately Italy doesn’t offer the same rating system for self-catering accommodation; otherwise we’d work to get the same standard. We want to be able to offer the consistency of assured top quality.
What does the Gold rating mean? It
means we went
that bit further to achieve the necessary score. For example: a library
of classic books to browse; A bucketful of complementary wood waiting
for you by the fireside; Soaps and shampoos in the bathrooms;
Full sets of high quality towels and linen; A well tended garden to
enjoy - it is looked after regularly by professional gardeners; and
Even extra carefully chosen original pictures on the walls.
Everything is at hand to offer a genuinely relaxing and special country
treat environment to sink into and unwind, whilst having all the
freedom and flexibility, not to say the economy, of self catering.
| Olive Oil Production Increases and Trullo Improvements
This is our second year of olive oil production, and we have managed a large increase in the amount of oil that we have produced, pressed for us at the local cooperative olive press. This was partly due to around 25 extra olive trees planted around our trullo, and partly due to good tending. In fact our yield was one of the highest in the area, despite a year with some heavy rain early in the season, beating most of the local farms. Of course having the trullo in a genuinely productive olive grove makes the feel of the place that bit nicer. We have enough olive oil that any visitors to either trulli next season will find a complementary bottle of oil produced directly from the trees surrounding the trullo awaiting them. Of course you can cook with it, but it’s so special that you may just want to dip some fresh crusty Puglian bread into a dish of it and sample it that way!
We
are working on new plans for new outdoor tables made of the local stone
and new permanent wooden awnings to enable outdoor dining under shade
with ease. There will also be some further landscaping of the grounds
with a selection of native plants to enhance the atmosphere and more
olive trees.
